Let's Import Contacts With Custom Fields
You have contacts that you need to import, but they have unique information other than their name, email, mailing address, phone number and other fields that are not found in your Details contact tab.
Before you can import those contacts by using a CSV file, you will need to create a custom contact tab in your account, or create custom fields in your Details contact tab to include the unique information about your contacts.

Steps
1. Log in to your account. Click on your name located in the upper right-hand of your dashboard menu. In the drop-down menu, click on system settings.
2. You will be directed to a new page. Click on Contact Tabs located on the left-hand side under CRM.
Details Tab
You can add custom fields to your default Details contact tab.
Note: By adding custom fields to your default Details contact tab, the custom fields will appear in all of your existing contacts in addition to new and imported contacts.
1. To add custom fields in your Details contact tab, click on the three dots located on the right-hand side of your Details tab.
In the drop-down menu, click on Edit.
2. You will be directed to Customize Contact Tab. To add a new field, click on +Add A New Field.
3. A pop-up box will appear. Click on New Field. In the drop-down menu, click on Text Field.
4. A pop-up box will appear. Click on the box under Enter name of the field and type in the name of the new field.
5. Then, click on Select Icon to choose a graphic to represent the new field.
A pop-up box will appear. Browse through the provided icons and click on the icon that you want.
6. Next, click on Save. To not save, click on Cancel.
7. You will be directed back to Customize Contact Tab. Here, you can see your new contact field.
8. To create another field, click on +Add A New Field and repeat steps 3-6.
When you are finished creating fields, click on Save in Customize Contact Tab.
9. Now, you are ready to upload your CSV file of contacts into your contact management system.
Click on Contacts located at the top of your dashboard menu.
10. You will be directed to your contact management system.
On the right-hand side, click on the blue Add Contact button. In the drop-down menu, click on Import Contact.
11. You will be directed to Import Contact List. To upload your CSV file, click on Choose File located under the cloud graphic.
A pop-up box will appear. Search your computer for your CSV file. Then, select your and then click on Open.
12. Then, click on Upload CSV.
13. You will be directed to Map Contact Fields.
Scroll down to your custom fields and click on the boxes next to each one.
In the drop-down menu, select the custom field that matches the custom field on the left-hand side.
14. The information for your custom fields appear on the right-hand side.
When finished, click on Run Import.
15. You will be directed to a new page.
Once your screen says Import Successful, click on Contacts.
16. You will be directed to your contact management system where you will see your imported contacts.
Click on a name of an imported contact.
17. Under the details tab, you will see the custom fields that you have created.
New Tab
You also can create a new contact tab with customized fields that is separate from your Details tab.
Note: After a new contact tab is created, it will not appear in your existing contact records unless you manually add it. However, the new contact tab will appear in new and imported contact records.
1. In your contact tabs management system, click on Add New located in the right-hand corner.
2. A pop-up box will appear.
Click on the box under name and type in a name for your contact tab.
When finished, click on Save. To not save, click on cancel.
3. You will be directed to Customize Contact Tab. To add a new field, click on +Add A New Field.
Note: Your Details tab will have fields such as name, email, mailing address, phone number, etc., so there is no need to include those fields in your custom contact tab.
4. Under New Field, click on the boxes to select the type of field that you want to include in your new contact tab.
5. A pop-up box will appear.
Click on the box under Enter name of the field and type in the name of the new field.
6. Next, click on Select Icon to choose a graphic to represent the new field.
A pop-up box will appear. Browse through the provided icons and click on the icon that you want.
7. Next, click on Save. To not save, click on Cancel.
8. You will be directed back to Customize Contact Tab. Here, you can see your new contact field.
To create another field, click on +Add A New Field and repeat steps 4-7.
When you are finished creating fields, click on Save.
9. You will be directed to your Contact Tabs page.
On the right-hand side of your new contact tab, click on the three dots.
In the drop-down menu, click on Set as Default.
10. A pop-up box will appear. Click on Set as Default.
11. A checkmark will appear next to your custom contact tab. Your Details tab and custom contact tab are now your default.
12. Now, you are ready to upload your CSV file of contacts into your contact management system.
Click on Contacts located at the top of your dashboard menu.
13. You will be directed to your contact management system.
On the right-hand side, click on the blue Add Contact button. In the drop-down menu, click on Import Contact.
14. You will be directed to Import Contact List.
To upload your CSV file, click on Choose File located under the cloud graphic.
A pop-up box will appear. Search your computer for your CSV file. Then, select your and then click on Open.
15. Then, click on Upload CSV.
16. You will be directed to Map Contact Fields.
Scroll down to your custom fields and click on the boxes next to each one.
In the drop-down menu, select the custom field that matches the custom field on the left-hand side.
17. The information for your custom fields appear on the right-hand side.
When finished, click on Run Import.
18. You will be directed to a new page. Once your screen says Import Successful, click on Contacts.
19. You will be directed to your contact management system where you will see your imported contacts.
Click on a name of an imported contact.
20. You will be directed to that contact's record.
Under the Details tab, you will see that contact's name, phone number, email, mailing address and other fields that you have in Details.
Under your custom contact tab, you will see the fields that you have created for your imported contacts.
