Quick-Start Guide: Setting Up Facebook for the Ads Campaign Manager
If you have only ever used Facebook to keep up with friends and family, the idea of running digital ads might feel like stepping onto another planet. You might be wondering, “Do I need a special account for this? Will my friends see my business ads? Where do I even start?”
Don’t worry. Every top real estate investor started exactly where you are right now.
To use the Ads Campaign Manager, you just need to build a quick "bridge" between your normal Facebook account and our software. The best part? You only have to do this once. Once this setup is done, you can manage everything directly from our easy-to-use platform and ignore Facebook’s complicated backend entirely.
Here is your step-by-step guide to setting up your professional Facebook presence and connecting it to your account.
Step 1: Why You Need a Business Page (And Why Your Personal Profile Won’t Work)
Before we click anything, let’s clear up the biggest misconception: Your personal Facebook friends will not see your real estate ads.
Facebook requires all advertisements to be run through a "Business Page," completely separate from your personal profile. Think of your personal profile as your private house, and your Business Page as a public billboard.
Why this matters:
- It’s the rules: Facebook legally requires a Business Page to run ads.
- Privacy: It keeps your investing business 100% separate from your personal life.
- Professionalism: When a prospect sees your ad, they will see your official business name (like "John Doe Home Buyers"), making you look credible and established.
Step 2: How to Create Your Real Estate Business Page
Creating a Business Page takes less than five minutes, and it doesn't need to be perfect to start generating leads today.
How to do it:
- Log into your normal, personal Facebook account on your computer.
- On the left-hand menu, look for Pages (it usually has an orange flag icon) and click it.
- Click + Create New Page.
- Name your page: Use your business name (e.g., "Smith Property Solutions" or "Jane Real Estate Investing").
- Choose a category: Type in "Real Estate" or "Real Estate Investor" and select the best fit.
- Add the basics: Upload a simple profile picture (your logo or a professional headshot) and a cover photo. You don't need to overthink this right now!
- Click Create Page.
Note: Facebook updates its menus frequently. If the buttons look slightly different, just search "Create a Page" in the Facebook search bar.
Step 3: How to Set Up Your Meta Business Account
Now that you have a Business Page, Facebook needs you to create an "Ad Account" to pay for your ads. Facebook calls this system the "Meta Business Suite."
Take a deep breath here. Facebook’s business dashboard looks incredibly complicated, but remember: you are only setting this up once so our software can talk to it. You will not have to log in here every day!
How to do it:
- Open a new tab in your browser and go to business.facebook.com.
- Log in using your normal Facebook email and password.
- Click Create an Account (or "Create a Business Portfolio").
- Enter your business name, your name, and your business email address, then click Submit.
- Once inside your new Business dashboard, find the Settings gear icon (usually in the bottom left).
- Under the menu, click on Ad Accounts, then click the Add button, and select Create a New Ad Account.
- Name it something simple (like "REI Ads"), choose your time zone, and add your payment method (credit card) so Facebook can bill you for your $10/day ad spend.
You have now officially built your Facebook business engine!
Step 4: How to Connect Your Facebook Account to the Ads Campaign Manager
This is the final step. Now that your Facebook Business Page and Ad Account exist, we just need to plug them into your Ads Campaign Manager inside of REI BlackBook.
How to do it:
- Open up your REI BlackBook dashboard.
- Navigate to the Marketing tab and click on the Ads Campaign Manager.
- Look for the button that says Integrations.
- You will be prompted to connect your Facebook account. Login with the necessary credentials.
- Facebook will ask if you would like to grant permission to manage your pages and ads?" You must click Select All or toggle all the permissions to YES. (Crucial step: If you do not grant all permissions, the software cannot launch ads on your behalf).
- Click Done or Confirm.
Congratulations! You’ve crossed the bridge. Your Facebook account is now fully connected to the Ads Campaign Manager inside of REI BlackBook. You never have to wrestle with Facebook's complicated Ad Manager again. You are now officially ready to launch your first ad, straight from our platform.
